is looking to recruit a practising Catholic to join our Governing Body as a Foundation Governor. The term of office for a Foundation Governor is 4 years. The Governing Body work as a team in co-operation with the Headteacher to ensure legal responsibilities are met and to preserve the catholic character of the school. We are looking for someone with experience in one of the following areas – Finance, ICT, HR, Education or with links to local businesses. Lack of experience should not deter you from expressing an interest if you have a genuine desire to serve the school by devoting your time & expertise. LEARNING ABOUT THE CATHOLIC FAITH:
We will soon be starting this year’s course (RCIA) for those interested in finding out more about our faith with a view to being received into full communion with the Catholic Church. If you know of anyone who would like to join us, please ask them to ring Father Liam on 01903 242624 for details. This course would also be suitable for those wanting to return to the practise of their Catholic faith.
‘OLD’ £1.00 COINS:
From 15th October shops are allowed to refuse to accept the ‘old’ £1.00 coins. However, if you would like to part with your old coins you could add them to the weekly collection!
ALPHA – AN ENCOUNTER WITH JESUS:
Come to St Michael’s parish hall, Hayling Rise, Worthing BN13 3AL for an Alpha Introductory Evening on Wednesday 27 September to find out more. The Alpha course continues then every Monday from 2 October. The evening begins with a meal from 7pm with a delicious buffet. FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2018:
Is your son or daughter in Year 3 this term? If so, they are at the age where they can start the preparation course for First Holy Communion. Please collect a letter and application form from the Sacristy and return it to the Parish Office as soon as possible. The first meeting for parents will be on Thursday 28th September at 8.00 pm in The Good Shepherd Chapel and the first lesson for the children will be on Tuesday 3rd October from 4.30 – 5.30 pm
PARISH PRAYER GROUP:
We shall be re-commencing in September and everyone is welcome to join us for music, prayer and intercession, contemplation, opening up the week’s scriptures, sharing and discussion. We meet the first and third Friday of the month in the Good Shepherd Chapel 7:30-9:00pm. Please see the posters in the porches and flyers to take home with you. CHRISTIAN MEDITATION AT POOR CLARE’S CONVENT, Crossbush
takes place every Tuesday at 7.15 pm. All are welcome. The meeting starts with an introductory talk, continues with silent meditation before a concluding prayer, followed by tea/coffee. USED POSTAGE STAMPS FOR THE MISSIONS
As the Christmas Cards start arriving please remember to rescue all those beautiful stamps, leaving about half an inch of envelope around the edges, and put them in the box in the Porch so that they can be used to raise money for the Missions.
